Our Scents
At Sage Heron, we use only clean scents free of phthalates, carcinogens and other damaging toxins so you can feel confident burning our candles in your home. Our fragrance oils are infused with essentials oils that are appropriate and safe for burning In a candle.
Appalachian Spirit
A bright fragrance that captures threessence of the people of Appalachia. Green, citrusy, fresh top notes with floral middle notes of rose, jasmine & lily enhanced by long lasting woody, musky, earthy, amber & sweet cotton candy type bottom notes.
Orange Blossom & Vanilla
This scent begins with radiant top notes of neroli, tangerine, and bergamot that burst with brilliance. Delicate orange blossom unfurls in the heart—and deftly bridges the sparkling citrus notes to a base of sea salt, creamy vanilla, and sun-weathered cedarwood. This fragrance is infused with natural essential oils including orange, cedarwood, oakmoss, and ylang ylang.
Lavender, Chamomile and Sage
A luxury blend of herbs, lavender, and aromatic woods. Sage, rosemary, and chamomile awaken the earthiness of lavender, while hints of sandalwood and cedar in the base are reinforced by clove, lavandin, and cedarwood essential oils.

A scent inspired by our home in the mountains of northeast Tennessee this scent has hints of hay, sandalwood, cinnamon, citrus, rum, ginger, tobacco and birchwood.

Lemon zest and juicy lemon followed by sugar and vanilla.
Candle Care and Safety
- Our candles are poured to order. Allowing the candle to cure for AT LEAST seven days and ideally longer than 2 weeks will allow for the best scent throw when burned.
- The first burn of your candle is the most important . Burn your candle 3-4 hours or until the melt pool reaches the edges of the container. This will prevent tunneling and promote evenness in future burns.
- In container candles, a small ring of wax is okay after your first burn. As the flame descends down the candle, future burns will melt this wax.
- Our plant based waxes burn clean, but untrimmed wicks do not! Always clip your wicks to 1/4" prior to lighting and keep wax free of clippings and debris. This is necessary to prevent the flame from getting too high and soot collecting on the inside of the container.
- Never burn your candle more than 4 hours without trimming the wick. This can lead to the flame getting too high and too hot!
- Always burn on a heat safe surface
- With our natural wood bowls, burn on a protected surface. Although very rare, tiny cracks in the would could expand during burning causing wax to leak out.
- Keep your candles away from drafts, fans or curtains
- Keep candles away from children and pets
- NEVER LEAVE A BURNING CANDLE UNATTENDED OR OUT OF SIGHT
About Us
Our Candle Vessels
- Sage Heron prides itself on the eco-friendliness of its products. At the minimum, all of our candle containers are 100% recyclable. They are meant to be either refilled or repurposed into additions to your home decor. Our wood dough bowls are hand carved and vary slightly in size and shape. Eco friendly fire retardant is applied to the wood prior to sealing and filling with wax.
- As with all our natural wood bowls, please place on a plate or surface protecter during that first long burn. Natural wood can, although very rarely, have tiny cracks or knots that may expand and cause leakage of wax.
- We only use 100% cotton wicks or FSC certified wood wicks sourced from sustainable forests and handcrafted in the USA
- Our candles are vegan friendly and animal cruelty free
